As one of the OG Pokémon, we've known this love-sick lady since the card game. Known for seductively dancing and always looking surprised, the final evolution of Smoochum has a unique type combo not seen in any other Pokémon. One of her signatures moves—pun intended—is to not only wiggle but entice those around her to do the same—making her the perfect wedding guest to open the dance floor after appetizers.

According to Japanese folklore, the real Jynx, is an old woman, completely isolated from civilization, lived in a hut on the mountains, just like her cannibalistic inspiration: Yama-Uba.

When travelers passed through the dangerous and vast mountain pass, Yama-Uba would kindly offer meals and rest. Then she would try to eat them. Turning into a decrepit witch, who has white hair and wears a red kimono, Yama-Uba is the apparent inspiration for Jynx—right down to the monster's scary largemouth.

This origin story explains why Jynx has such a unique Pokémon type. Half Psychic-type to represent her witchy side and half Ice-type is a nod to her icy mountain habitat.
