10 Rarest PS1 Games Ever

Does your PlayStation library contain treasures you don't know about?

The Playstation 1, PSX, whatever you want to call it, is one of the consoles that the gaming community feels the most nostalgia for. It was the first time video games well and truly warped us into a convincing 3D realm, letting us traverse game spaces in a way we'd never have thought possible just a few years earlier. Sony's first console has one of the biggest games libraries of all time, clocking up around 2,500 in total. Many of these, of course, never made it to our shores, or ended up only getting small print runs due to poor early sales or manufacturing problems. If this happens to a decent-quality or unique game, its value starts being defined by way more than just its RRP, because as the years go by and fewer copies of the are available, it ascends to collectible status. It's hard to predict whether that enjoyable but obscure caveman platformer your mum bought you back in 1997 will become a sought-after collectors' item, or why any game related to the super-popular Mega Man series would become a rarity. But considering some of the games in this list are ones that you may have owned once upon a time - only to then sell for a couple of notes to your local game store's bargain bin - next time round just make sure you have a good think about what you're really throwing away.
