10 Reasons Fans Need To Stop Complaining About Breath Of The Wild DLC
1. Nintendo Needs To Be In This Market
Many of us were first exposed to downloadable content through the Xbox 360, and from then on, most games have featured some form of expansive or additional content. In the seventh and eight console generations it has become the norm for developers to offer more after release, often even at release, to the point its absence is an abnormality.
So why, in the name of the Helix, are Nintendo still not consistently on this bandwagon?
Now is the time to pull the trigger.
A new console with a completely new branding is an utterly fresh start which should allow Nintendo freedom to do as they please and break some new ground with their games. While DLC should by no means be tacked on purely for its own sake, Nintendo probably have more recognisable exclusive franchises than anyone else right now, and don’t tend to shill out more than one iteration per console.
Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. both got a healthy dose of bonus content that extended the experience whilst staying true to the main game. Finding ways to do that with a wider array of their flagship titles will keep Nintendo, and the Switch, going strong.
