10 Reasons Fans Need To Stop Complaining About Breath Of The Wild DLC
2. Promising For The Switch’s Future
We often lose sight of how important Breath of the Wild is to the Switch because, well, it’s a shiny new Zelda game.
How can we not be distracted? But as exciting as that prospect is, Breath of the Wild still stands as the lone flagship title carrying the bouncing baby console for the foreseeable future. For that reason it needs to set a strong benchmark for future titles, and could very well affect how positively people look at the Switch’s prospects.
Implementing quality DLC makes the steep price point for games a little less intimidating. After all, if I’m spending £60 for a game I don’t want to be washing my bloodied hands of it within the fortnight. And yes, the Expansion Pass will hike that up another £20, but £80 in March for a game I’ll be playing up to Christmas?
That’s not a bad deal. And when similarly touted titles - such as Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey - hit our shelves we’ll be asking the same questions of value for money. If Breath of the Wild sticks the landing, it will make the answers to those questions a whole lot clearer.
