10 Reasons It Totally Sucked To Be A Gamer In 2012

4. Patches

This codswallop wouldn€™t fly back in the 80s and 90s. In those days if a developer messed up they€™d either didn€™t tell their boss in fear of getting sacked, or they were just too bone-idle to notice and the game would be released. Patches really drive me up the bloody wall because I swear it has made developers lazy, and I don€™t mean lazy in the sense they aren€™t working hard, but more to do with the final polishing of a game. One Eiffel Tower tall example of ridiculous patches would be Medal of Honour: Warfighter. Warfighter had to be basically completely overhauled when it was given a patch to repair roughly seventy bugs and other problems in the first day. That is just downright absurd to have such a high number of mistakes within twenty-four hours of a 2012 release. Yes, all the bugs were fixed and one could argue what is the point of harping on about it? The point is Danger Close knew that they would have to compete with Black Ops II so knowing that they could fix the problems at a later date, rushed the release date. Not only Danger Close, but Bethesda Game Studios who created Skyrim have earned a fair amount of stick for adding patch after patch that fix absolutely nothing. Another example would be BioWare€™s Mass Effect 3 a part from having a massively disappointing ending and I€™m not even a fan; had the Face Import bug. This basically didn€™t save the changes fans had made to Commander Shepard€™s face in the two previous titles. Adding to that BioWare (trying to calm fans down) said fans should rebuild their character's face while waiting for the patch. Well done BioWare, that€™s like trying to calm down a hungry bear by drenching your balls honey.
