8. The Name Itself
"Hey did you play that on Xbox one?" "What? No that's brand new dude, it's on the Xbox One!" "Yeah that's what I said, the Xbox one, y'know the Xbox?!" *blank stare*
Such was the reaction when Microsoft announced the utterly deflating name back in 2013 - their intention being that this is the Xbox that "brings all your entertainment together into one place" or some such other marketing gubbins. The thing everyone came away with was a feeling of complete disappointment, obviously the '720' would've been a bit too stupid, but at least it's a nickname easily used both socially and online. Instead, what's on offer leads to a million conversations like the one above where it's damn-near impossible to distinguish between the original Xbox and the Xbox One if they're both in conversation, without plaintively stating "the original Xbox" every time.
