Hoo boy, the recent re-branding of Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) franchise has been nothing short of a disaster.

The inaugural entry into the rejigged series, eFootball 2022, hit stores at the end of September, and was immediately panned by critics and players alike, citing its dated graphics, poor controls, overabundance of bugs, and general lack of content.

The ire was sufficient enough that eFootball 2022 quickly became the worst-rated Steam game in history, and memes soon spread making fun of its horrendously poor likenesses of star players.

Shortly thereafter, Konami issued a grovelling apology to fans, while promising the game would be whipped into shape soon enough:

"We are very sorry for the problems, and want to assure everyone we will take all concerns seriously and strive to improve the current situation."

The first update is due to drop at the end of October, though let's be honest, you'd be a mighty optimist to expect such a wretched experience to be miraculously transformed into even a basically good football game.
