10 Recent Video Games With Disastrous Launches You Didn't Realise Got Fixed

4. Payday 3

Payday 3 was released in September 2023 to mediocre reviews from critics and players alike, many complaining about the barebones amount of content, relentless server issues, lack of a server browser, and atrocious UI, prompting large swaths of players to simply return to playing Payday 2.

Developer Starbreeze Studios even admitted that the launch was a disaster, though vowed to regain player trust through patches.

Within a year of launch, Payday 3 had been transformed through substantial updates, finally remedying server issues once and for all, ironing out most bugs, overhauling the UI, and yes, adding a server browser.

Starbreeze also added new heists, a long-requested solo mode, and cross-platform voice chat functionality, though it also appears that many players simply opted to stick with the tried-and-tested Payday 2, given that its current Steam player count is roughly ten times that of Payday 3. Ouch.
