10 Refreshing Video Game Drinks We Need In Our Lives

The drinks in Half-Life: Alyx are so impressive that they couldn't make it into the game until after launch as the liquid shading technology just took so long to implement.

Called the "booze shader", the technology found in the drinks within Half-Life: Alyx is so impressive because it will react to anything. You can pick up the bottles and wobble them around meaning that the shader had to properly represent how numerous different drinks look when they are shaken in a container.

Now you'll notice that I keep calling it a shader, that's because the liquid isn't even real, it's a shader applied to the outside of the bottle. The drink isn't a physical object per se but that doesn't make it any less impressive.

The liquid physics here are so impressive that you'll literally spend minutes at a time just shaking around a bottle, mesmerised at how it can feel so real.
