10 Rumoured Video Games That Could Still Be Announced In 2016

Ubisoft have been very quiet as of late...

2016 has been a strange one for the industry calendar. In the past six months alone, we've had dozens of rumoured releases - whether announced officially or otherwise - just up and go AWOL without a trace.

Remember how Rockstar were meant to kickstart E3 with a trailblazing Red Dead teaser? Yeah, that totally panned out as predicted.

And then there are the titles that have been blighted completely by development Hell. Beyond Good and Evil 2, Agent, and much, much more have all had their chances of release wildly diminished in the months since their initial announcements, despite renewed interest in their trademarks from both their respective companies and fans alike.

It can be easy to forget just how loaded this year was for announcements, even if E3 managed to disappoint on a somewhat magnificent scale. So maybe, what these projects really need is just some quiet time - respite in an ocean of fervent media speculation (guilty as charged), as well as the industry's notoriously relentless development cycle.

Despite the fact that publishers often overload the fourth quarter of the year with a bonafide bonanza of releases, it can often prove to be the perfect time to announce that a new title is hot on the way.

Indeed, as Gamescom and the VGAs fast approach, it'd be foolish to write off 2016 just yet...

10. Shadow Of Mordor II

Monolith

You'd be hard-pressed to find a soul who didn't enjoy Shadow of Mordor.

Not only did it manage to provide Tolkienites with a vibrant, gritty and fresh take on The Lord of the Rings mythos, it did it all whilst innovating the action-adventure genre in a manner unseen since Rocksteady first made waves with 2009's Arkham Asylum.

Which, it must be said, is rather impressive.

Having known that a sequel to the 2014 sleeper-hit has been in the works for some time now, it's come as a surprise to many that Monolith have been able to contain their imaginable excitement for as long as they have.

I suppose Warner Bros. have been just a wee bit occupied with Batman for a while now, but, with the odd exception of Arkham VR, the publisher are yet to announce a big Triple-A release to come in the weeks and months ahead.

Obviously, the Arkham franchise is yet to call it quits, but it is Monolith's series that's beginning to show the most promise. We can only hope Warner takes it off the ice sooner rather than later.
