10 Scariest Video Game Monsters

3. The Janitor - Little Nightmares

Little Nightmares is an interesting horror game, as even the main character is somewhat creepy and monster-like, something the player discovers the longer they play.

The Janitor though, is a malformed monster with unnaturally long arms, short legs, and skin flaps that seem to have come off his skull to render him blind.

Although his condition might make it seem as if he would be easier to deal with, in reality, the blindness of the Janitor is what makes him the most terrifying enemy, as his ears compensate for his lack of sight. As the player tries to hide, the Janitor will slide his grotesque arms into every nook and cranny and snatch the first thing he hears.

This makes every moment he’s on the screen a truly terrifying experience, as you can never be truly certain if you hadn’t done something to alert him to your presence.

The reason the Janitor works as a fear-inducing pursuer is how he ties into his surroundings. The first stage of the game takes place in the bottom decks of the Maw, which are filled to the brim with tools, boxes, and little knickknacks, all of which make a lot of noise. Every new room you enter feels like the perfect trap set for the Janitor to hear you.

The two of you begin to play a dangerous game of cat and mouse, which compliments the Janitor’s lack of eyesight, as opposed to working against him.
