10 Scummiest Moves Made By Video Game Publishers
3. Atlus Not Letting You Stream Persona 5

your game is important even if its a mainline entry in a franchise as big as
Persona. The action RPG has had a massive following over the years and has a
loyal fanbase that is out to show their love and support. However, Atlus
clearly had other plans.
When Persona 5 released Atlus said that people were not allowed to show gameplay or cutscenes after a certain point. Meaning steamers and reviewers couldn't show parts of the game through fear of being taken down by Atlus. The point was because they thought people would just watch playthroughs as opposed to buying the game.
This continued with Persona 5 Royal when they set out guidelines that you had to follow in order to play the game on a stream. Guidelines that were impossible to meet for some players as they included adding watermarks and editing out cutscenes. These restrictions most likely hurt sales of the game as they'd cut out a large part of the gaming community in a way most companies wouldn't dream of doing.
Stopping people from steaming the game put people off the game as it was hurting the fans and community that loved the Persona games. Which is a shame because the game is amazing, it was just hurt by the company.
The Phantom thieves are going to need to work overtime to make this up.
