10 Secret Video Game Companions You Recruit Under The Most Bizarre Circumstances
Through betrayal, marriage, and dark magic, these companions will not be easy to get!

Typically, recruiting an NPC into your team is as easy as completing a quest or simply hearing them say they're willing to join you.
However, not every companion is fond of simplicity. Some prefer to make the process as bizarre and complex as possible.
Yes, some followers in the games you play may not make it obvious that they can be recruited. You typically meet such companions under very strange circumstances, and they offer to follow you only if you let the insanity unfurl even further!
From a troublemaker who joins your team only if you spontaneously marry them to a Stockholm syndrome enthusiast that requires you to stage their kidnapping, recruiting these followers is no easy task, which is why some people may not even be aware they exist. They can be tricky to find, and even when you do, there's no guarantee you'll make the right or wrong decisions to have them join your crew.
If you love the unorthodox and weird, the following companions might be the right fit for you. They await to be discovered by those who are willing to take a deep dive into whatever ridiculous requirements you need to complete to get them.
10. Skie Silvershield - Baldur's Gate

The original Baldur's Gate features as many as 25 unique companions for you to recruit. Some of them are stranger than others, while some may require you to do some bizarre things to unlock them.
In the case of Skie Silvershield, it's both!
Skie Silvershield is an heiress of the Silvershield family who will join your team only if you agree to... kidnap her for ransom.
Well, to be more precise, she doesn't want YOU to kidnap her, but rather another companion of yours, a womanizing bard by the name of Eldoth Kron.
You see, Skie is in love with Eldoth, and she believes the bard wants to stage her kidnapping to run away with her, even though in reality he's only doing it for ransom money.
For this reason, Skie will join your team only if you show up to her house with Eldoth. Otherwise, she will consider you to be actual kidnappers and refuse to go with you.
This makes Skie the only companion in the game who requires you to have another companion in your party to get her.
It also makes her the saddest and most delusional person on your team, but that's a topic for a different list.
