Let's start out with a bold declarative statement of intent: I actually dont think the prequels are that bad. Sure, theyre a bit of a mess at times particularly where the Gungans are concerned but theres enough in there to be enjoyable films, and since Im not a Star Wars purist, Im not going to froth at the mouth over any perceived damage that the prequels do to the lore. Plus, we get to hear Emperor Palpatines awesome voice a whole lot more. What is unquestionable, however, is that the prequels brought the series back into the spotlight, and offered it to a newer, younger audience. The series popularity spiked again and with popularity comes tie-ins; from comics to figurines and especially games. Even though many Star Wars games arent directly tied to any of the movies, they are given a signal boost merely by being a part of a well-known franchise. Some rely on this more than others; a lot of movie games, especially direct movie tie-in games, rely on the success of the name rather than being a good game in their own right. However, there are a good amount of gems hidden amongst them, you just have to look.
