10 Shocking Video Game Deaths You Never Saw Coming
3. Swim With The Fishes - Spore
Spore is a wonderfully quirky game about simulating life. You get to create your own species and then guide it through five different stages of their evolution, from single-cell organisms to a fully fledged space-age civilization.
As you may imagine, the process is filled with potential dangers that can wipe out your chosen creatures from existence. However, some of them are not as obvious as others.
In particular, the most bizarrely unexpected of them might be swimming.
In the creature stage, your species gets to finally leave their primordial soup cage from the cell stage and explore the dry land. Actually, you're secretly forced to STAY on land, because if you ever feel nostalgic for the good old cell days and want to take a dip, you will be instantly eaten by a giant sea monster!
Yes, the water in Spore isn't a safe space at all. As soon as you swim too far offshore, the game triggers the sea creature cutscene so as to prevent you from leaving the map.
The death animation can actually get so ridiculous that the leviathan will catch you even when you're trying to cross a wide river.
Come on! You're a sea monster! Not a river troll!
