While acquiring monster parts can be fun and incredibly useful, sometimes you just want to traverse the map without being disturbed. Most players know to use the Stasis rune when a persistent enemy isn’t letting them climb a cliff or pass through a valley, but it becomes trickier when multiple enemies are chasing you.

The Blizzard Rod freezes all nearby enemies and, provided they’re not near fire or in a hot climate, they’ll stay like that – giving you all the time in the world to run away. However, if you’re wanting to use this in combat, giving yourself time to prepare a bomb, a charge attack or a critical hit from an arrow is nothing to scoff at.

Like other elemental weapons, the Blizzard Rod can only be used a certain amount of times before it has to recharge, but with one or two swings being enough to freeze a pack of foes, you’ll barely notice it. And what’s more, you can wield it alongside a shield for ultimate protection.

There’s a lot of fun to be had with this rod, just don’t make a melee attack with it as you’ll soon find out how quickly a rod harnessing the power of ice can shatter.
