10 Terrible Boss Fights That Almost Ruined Video Games

6. The Bed Of Chaos - Dark Souls

It says a lot about this boss that not only does the otherwise ruthless Dark Souls actually retain your damage against it upon dying, but director Hidetaka Miyazaki actually went on to call it his "greatest regret" from the game's development.

The Bed of Chaos is, simply, bulls**t. It doesn't matter if you're a hardcore player or if you think people should "git gud," this is the one Dark Souls boss that, above all others, is straight-up punishing to the point of lunacy.

The big issue is that the Bed is capable of insta-killing you without much telegraphing whatsoever, requiring a lengthy run back to continue the fight unless you've unlocked the hidden bonfire close by.

Ultimately, for all but the most skilled Dark Souls players, it just devolves into a battle of attrition as you keep hammering away at the Bed's health, with deaths in-between, until it's over.

There's no real satisfaction to beating it, just relief, which is pretty much the least Dark Souls thing imaginable.
