Players can't do anything to raise his stats, so he's effectively a waste of a character slot short of absorbing a quick hit in place of someone with actual fighting abilities.

In the event that Jogurt does score the killing blow on an enemy, though, he'll give up a Jogurt Ring, which will allow the wearer to resemble Jogurt. Amusing, but completely purposeless where progress is concerned.
