10 Terrible Video Game Party Members Always Left Warming The Bench

6. Cooke & Mack - Lost Odyssey

Final Fantasy X Kimahri Ronso
Mistwalker

Cult classic RPG Lost Odyssey boasts two offputting child characters for the price of one - Cooke and her younger brother Mack.

Much like Final Fantasy XIII's Hope, the pair at least have the defense that they're literally kids, but even so, the ear-assaulting voice acting and cringe-worthy dialogue ensure these two are a pain every time they open their mouths.

In combat terms, they simply pale compared to just about every other option at your disposal, especially considering how poorly they fare defensively - being kids and all.

Mack in particular has incredibly low survivability, and given that the bulk of their abilities can be done better by the game's other characters, any incentive to retain them quickly lessens as you progress into the game's tougher sections.

Cooke and Mack do have their defenders, but unless you have a major tolerance for grating kids in your JRPGs, you're advised to give them a wide berth.
