10 Things EA Wants You To Forget

7. Playing As The Taliban In Medal Of Honor (2010)

Rebooting Medal of Honor was a perfect idea on paper. After all, the original PC and PS/PS2 output solidified how video games could imitate Hollywood and give blockbuster cinema a run for its money, so naturally after Call of Duty encroached and owned that turf, it made sense for EA to try and take it back.

Enter 2010's Medal of Honor - a game that not only didn't feel great to control, but included the rather problematic idea of playing as the Taliban in multiplayer. EA defended by saying that "someone's gotta be the Taliban" in reference to how cops need robbers, and - literally this is a quote - "someone's gotta be the pirate and someone's gotta be the alien".

What kind of childhood games were they playing?!

Regardless, the Taliban had obvious links to 9/11 and other horrifying acts, and it was only weeks of pressure put on EA before their faction was removed and replaced with the words, "Opposing Force."

How much more... friendly?
