10 Things The Next Console Generation Needs

I have my consoles set up to download updates in the background, even being able to update my games while the console is in standby mode, and I've more than a few times woken to find a whole new UI or feature set added to games I play.

Despite this, there are still those games I click to play and I'm told I need to download an update before I can do anything. And sometimes those updates are larger than the original download, leaving that game off the table until that download is complete.

Clever updates would download in the background as soon as they were ready. If the player started the game and it happened to need an update at that moment, then the update would start to download in the background and would only apply when the game isn't in use. if this was a multiplayer experience then those with the update and those without would be placed on different servers until everybody is up to date.

This would allow players to keep playing their games, receiving a seamless experience that was rarely interrupted. And aren't consoles about having the simplest experience possible, with the annoying things hidden in the background?
