10 Times Metal Gear Solid Went Too Far

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain caused a minor controversy prior to release after one of the trailers introduced us to a character called Quiet, who's attire was, well, let's just say not regulation uniform for a sniper. It's a bikini and fishnet tights, alright?

People booted off, obviously, and Hideo Kojima tried to downplay the controversy by telling us that there was a very good reason why Quiet was forced to wear her skimpy outfit while all the men in the game were wearing, you know, proper tactical gear and stuff. He promised that when we learned the truth, we'd all be ashamed of our words and deeds for calling out Quiet's godawful costume design.

Eventually, The Phantom Pain hit the streets, and the truth behind Quiet's choice of attire was revealed; apparently, she breathes through her skin. Uh huh. Are you feeling ashamed? A little red around the gills? Thought not.

Weirdly, one of her alternate costumes is the sort of full tactical gear that one would traditionally see a sniper wear, and she has no breathing difficulty whatsoever when she's wearing it, so it makes literally zero sense.
