10 Times Video Games Made You Fight Yourself
4. Double God Hand Gene (God Hand)
God Hand was a 3D brawler released in 2006. It was directed by Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil, The Evil Within) and was the last game developed by Clover Studios.
God Hand is known for its deep melee combat system and offbeat humour; our hero, Gene, battles everything from off-brand Power Rangers to Lucha Libre gorillas. Luckily for Gene, he is more than a match for these opponents, because in place of his right arm he possesses the powerful God Hand; one of the arms of a legendary martial artist who once defeated an army of demons.
Prior to facing the final boss, Gene defeats the bearer of the left God Hand, and claims it for himself, becoming Double God Hand Gene and gaining the strength to save humanity from the demons once again.
However, the game’s greatest challenge is yet to come; players who successfully complete all fifty challenges in God Hand’s optional Fighting Ring, unlock Double God Hand Gene as a secret boss.
Double God Hand Gene is the game’s ultimate challenge, far exceeding anything encountered in the main game. Double God Hand Gene uses all of Gene’s fully upgraded moves and possesses a huge HP pool.
