10 Totally Impractical Video Game Weapons

What ever happened to plain old fashioned guns?

Some of the greatest weapon designs of all time have emerged from the world of gaming. Balancing functionality, aesthetics and sheer power, certain game developers have manage to create weapons that have proven iconic enough to seep into the world of popular culture. Take the Gravity Gun for instance: making its debut in Valve's Half-Life 2, it is a perfect example of a truly great video game weapon. A device that would be just as useful for loading boxes in a warehouse as it would in battle, there are few who would pass up on owning a Gravity Gun in real life. That's not what we're here for though. What follows are the weapons that have absolutely no place outside of the games they're in, mind-bogglingly impractical inventions that avoid all conventional logic. Oversized weaponry, such as Cloud Strife's infamous, compensating-for-something Buster Sword, won't be included in the list. Not only are there too many to mention, but we'll also make the assumption that the characters wielding them probably have some sort of ungodly strength, making them practical in the context of the game. These are rather the weapons that are too dangerous, too silly, too over-the-top, or just too plain useless to be considered anything but totally impractical.
