You want to talk about visually stunning games? You want to talk about a pixelated Blade Runner-esque thing that looks like the Drive soundtrack feels? Then you want to talk about The Last Night.

The game’s plot description even sounds as though Blade Runner had a hand in its influence, reading: “Machines have surpassed human labour not only in strength, but in precision, intellect, and creativity. The fight for survival doesn’t mean food and water, but a purpose for living.”

Odd Tales originally launched The Last Night as a cyberpunk-themed flash game created in less than a week (which you can play here), a platformer that gained some recognition but not on the level 2018’s multi-platform release will.

Sibling creators Tim and Adrien Soret have previously referenced 1992’s Flashback and Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey as influencers on The Last Night, something we’re completely okay with, and the pixel style offers something we haven’t seen since trying to load certain images on dial-up.

Prolific electronic beat-maker Lorn will stoke our curiosity at the worst of times, but combine that with a killer game trailer of these proportions and you most certainly have our attention.
