9. The Wonderful 101 (Aug 23)
Platinum Games' The Wonderful 101 is certainly one of the most ambitious and inventive titles being released for the Wii U. The game places you in the shoes of, get this, a whole 101 superheroes who have the ability to combine to form huge weapons and items that can be used to fend off a monster invasion and solve puzzles. The game supports up to five players, with one using the Wii U touchpad and the others the conventional Wiimote. Though there was some recent controversy over the length of the game, director Hideki Kamiya has assured us that it will last around 20 hours, which is certainly more than enough for a game of this type. Though it, like so many upcoming Wii U games, fell shy of its launch window release date, hopefully this will result in a more streamlined title that could very well become a cult classic.
