10 Upcoming Nintendo Switch Exclusives You Need To Know About
4. Fire Emblem Warriors & Unnamed Fire Emblem Sequel
At this stage, very little is known about the two new Fire Emblem games, though I can hazard a guess as to how they'll play based on what little information has surfaced so far.
First is Fire Emblem Warriors, a Hyrule Warriors-esque take on the franchise's beloved characters that'll plunge them into the sort of army-tackling battles seen more commonly in Dynasty Warriors. Apparently the genre of oversized hack n' slashery is one of Japan's best sellers, and just this year we also saw Dragon Quest Heroes II once again stepping outside its established genre to indulge.
Second is the unnamed 'proper' Fire Emblem title that should be a continuation of where Fire Emblem Fates left off. The series is better-known for turn-based strategy, placing units and eking out victory over time by letting specific fighters team up, guard one another from attacks or pull off flanking manoeuvres.
Needless to say it's this latter style of gameplay that got the franchise to where it is today, though it'll be interesting to see just how Nintendo handles these two 'strands' to the series' identity in the coming years.
