10 Upcoming Video Games That Will Die At Launch
2. Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
Only slightly less obvious of a dud-in-the-making than Skull & Bones is Rocksteady's upcoming DC looter-shooter Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
While on paper an online multiplayer game centered around the Justice League has a ton of potential, player enthusiasm largely evaporated once they got a comprehensive look at gameplay earlier this year.
Between the simplistic-looking gun-centric gameplay, tedious focus on loot, always-online requirement, and abundance of generic live-service elements - like gear scores, numerous currencies, and promised post-launch content - to many it felt like Rocksteady was about to serve up DC's equivalent of Square Enix's failed Avengers live-service game from 2021.
If players can't even enjoy the basic thrill of playing as their favourite anti-heroes without being forced to pull out a gun, then what's the point? Nobody asked for a Suicide Squad looter-shooter, because it's just a blatantly inappropriate gameplay loop for these characters.
And so, expect this game to go the exact same way that Gotham Knights did last year - landing with a thud on launch and being generously discounted in record time.
