6. South Park: The Stick of Truth
Platforms: PS3, 360, PC It is a testament to the momentum this game has built up over the years that it is still one of the most anticipated future release games on any platform, despite its numerous delays and development problems. Most recently, the game was scheduled to come out this Holiday, but has now been pushed back to early 2014. And even with this latest delay, its supporters are still chomping at the bit to get their hands on this game, and despite being a "last gen" game, it still may be one of 2014's biggest titles. What makes The Stick of Truth endure and remain so desirable despite all the drama? Quite simply, the game looks great. Employing a turn-based battle system while giving players an unprecedented level of access to the infamous mountain town known as South Park, Colorado, The Stick of Truth was directly supervised and received major contributions from South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Just like they do for their television show, they wrote the script and provided the majority of vocal work for the game, giving gamers who are fans of the show an instantly familiar setting and appealing atmosphere. Characters will have unique powers based on their histories on the show, and players will be able to customize their own main protagonist that the story will revolve around. The Stick of Truth looks like a very fun, hilarious romp through South Park history, and knowing Trey and Matt's meticulous attention to detail, the quality should be there to back it up. One of the major reasons for the delays had to do with the unfortunate dissolution of publisher THQ, but with the publishing rights now in mega publisher Ubisoft's hands, hopefully the home stretch of The Stick of Truth's development should be a smooth one, and we'll have what could be one of 2014's best games in our hands very soon.
