10 Video Game Betas That Put You Off Full Games

1. Metal Gear Survive

Finally, we have another poor excuse for a gaming release with Metal Gear: Survive, another spin-off intended to venture into online multiplayer territory. Having kicked Hideo Kojima out of the company, Konami went right ahead and butchered the Metal Gear franchise with this lacklustre spin-off.

Taking the MGS5 formula and attempting to transplant it into a bland zombie survival simulator quickly went nowhere as two betas were released in January and February 2018. Both were very poor, mostly being experiments to see how many players they could suck in through daily rewards similar to a mobile game.

The gameplay at the centre didn't fare any better as players slogged through killing legions of zombies via a spear and fence over and over again. The design of Metal Gear: Survive was designed to drag, with constant thirst and hunger meters getting on people's nerves.

As such, no one cared for Metal Gear Survive's attempts to tie itself to the franchise and it's been on hiatus ever since. Konami has shown little interest in continuing any of their IPs in AAA gaming; many fans would agree this is for the best.
