7. The Joker - Arkham Asylum
This one borders on the embarrassing, as it almost entirely undoes the Joker's character. By essentially turning him into the Hulk through the help of Venom, the Joker becomes a grotesque hunchback type resembling nothing so much as a Bane clone in a tighter costume. The Joker's a skinny, slippery fella, and to have him beefed out in a simple muscle-out contest against Batman undermines the very thing that defines his character. What makes this even more baffling is the ability to play as Joker in the challenge rooms, in which he can unleash a surprisingly large can of whoop-ass. A skinny, dexterous slip of a man he may be, but the Joker still had plenty of moves enough to warrant a worth opponent for a final showdown without the aid of a Venom MacGuffin. This is another disappointing assumption on Rocksteady's behalf that bigger is always better. Of course, physically he doesn't pose the greatest of challenges to Batman himself, but there were plenty of ways Rocksteady could have counter-acted this throw in a few puzzles or mental exercises between bouts of combat to break up the pace, and this could have been a climax worth of the Clown Prince. Instead we got an abuse of the character most fans would rather forget. The only redeeming feature of this showdown was the way it set up events for Arkham City.
