10 Video Game Bosses Who Can't Do Anything Right

4. Dr Neo Cortex - Crash Bandicoot Series

The issue with any long running videogame villain is, well, they eventually become a joke. After all, there’s only so many times you can be defeated by a sweaty Italian plumber, spiky blue hedgehog or a genetically modified Bandicoot before you start to lose all credibility. In Dr Cortex’s case however, he’s always been his own worst enemy.

Cortex created the funky orange marsupial that turned on him and spends so much time destroying his plans. Nor is betrayal an uncommon thing for the good doctor. He is betrayed by his assistant Dr. N. Brio who works to stop him throughout Crash 2: Cortex Strikes Back. His attempt at a Cyborg-Bandicoot hybrid, Crunch also turns on him and sides with Crash. He is even betrayed by his friend Uka Uka and own niece, Nina Cortex in Crash of The Titans.

Humiliation still not complete, Cortex is forced to team up with his archnemesis in Crash Twinsanity where he is often used as a tool including a surfboard and a hammer amongst others. Add to that the multitude of failing schemes and numerous defeats at the hands of Crash and Cortex is certainly a villain who just cannot win.
