10 Video Game Characters Stolen Straight From Hollywood

5. Raiden - Lightning (Big Trouble In Little China)

You'd be forgiven for scratching your head unknowingly at the mention of a character called Lightning from the movies, which sounds like it could be anything from a dog to a secondary character in a Kung-Fu flick.

Well, that second option isn't too far off, as Lightning is the name of the third of the Three Storms - the electrically-charged warriors working for Lo Pan, the villain from much-loved 80s schlockfest, Big Trouble in Little China.

Like Raiden from Mortal Kombat, Lightning wears a wide-brimmed straw hat, fires lightning from his fists, and can fly around using some kind of mystical energy that's never quite explained. Unlike Raiden, he doesn't shriek 'Flying Thunder God' each time he launches himself at his foes, which in my eyes gives Raiden the edge in terms of all-round appeal.
