10 Video Game Characters You Didn't Realise MAJORLY Affected Sequels

4. Fiona - Dragon Age: Inquisition

Far Cry
BioWare

Those who have played Dragon Age: Inquisition will mostly know Fiona as the representative of the mage side of the Mage-Templar War in the game, but the truth is, she is actually a far more prominent character, and her actions prior to Dragon Age: Inquisition were a major reason for the entire storyline of the game.

Fiona is actually the main character of two novels that take place before the events of the game. Fiona is shown to be an incredibly competent mage who eventually joins the order of the Grey Wardens, but due to losing her fellow members' graces, she is eventually put back in the Circle of Magi. Her small taste of freedom made her despise her gilded cage, and she began campaigning for the release of mages, eventually succeeding in outvoting the templars.

What this means for Dragon Age: Inquisition is that Fiona isn't just a part of the conflict—she's the one who started it. Without her, there would be no need to organize peace talks between mages and templars; their most powerful leaders wouldn't get blown up and the game's world wouldn't need to call the Inquisition to end their conflict and save the world.
