10 Video Game Exploits That Destroyed The Entire Experience

1. Skipping Most Of The Game (God Of War III)

Speaking of skipping through entire portions of a game, Spyro isn't the only PlayStation icon who can do it.

Whether he's a brooding single dad or an emotionless grunting thug, Kratos has always been good at killing, but in God Of War III, his powers of mass-murder weren't needed if you chose to utilise a huge exploit that let you skip most of the game.

Starting at the Judges Of The Underworld section (which is quite early on in the story) you can bamboozle the game into triggering its finale early, breaking the chain in the middle of the room and sending Kratos up towards the final boss, Zeus. When all is said and done, you're looking at little over an hour for a complete playthrough.

It's an absolute doozy of a gameskip that isn't too difficult to pull off, which explains why it's so widespread. Everyone from trophy hunters to speedrunners has benefitted from its use, and bizarrely, it was even transferred to the game's PS4 remaster in 2015.

God Of War III is a bloody difficult game, so if you need a way to make it easier, then it doesn't get any better than literally skipping the majority of the story.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
