10 Video Game Fan Theories That Became Fact
6. Super Mario 3 - It's A Play!
For fans of Super Mario Mario Bros 3, it was clear that this game was aesthetically very different from its predecessors. Fans noticed some unusual details in the background, which led to a popular belief the game was a play where all the characters were actors.
At the beginning of the game, a curtain lifted up like the beginning of a play. Throughout the game, blocks were bolted to background like a set prop, as well as platforms hanging from the roof. It's also worth mentioning that Mario always exits stage right at the end of a level.
In 2015, Mario's legendary creator Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed these rumours in a video entitled 'Mario Myths with Mr Miyamoto'. In the video, a statement would appear on screen, and Miyamoto would offer a thumbs up or thumbs down to confirm or deny the rumours.
To the relief of fans, when asked 'was Super Mario Bros 3 just a performance?' Miyamoto gave a sagely nod, confirming what most fans had speculated for over two decades.
However, if the video is to be entirely believed, then Miyamoto is canonically Bowser Jrs. mother, so we don't know what to think anymore.
