10 Video Game Franchises With The BEST Spin-Offs
4. Persona
...now.
After starting life as an offshoot of Shin Megami Tensei, Persona has taken on a life of its own and created its own batch of high-quality spin-offs across a variety of genres.
For the thinking chap/chapette, there's the aptly named Persona Tactica - a breezy introduction to the SRPG genre that may be a tad simplistic for strategy-gaming veterans, but is carried along by its lovable cast, excellent writing and killer soundtrack.
For fighters, there are a multitude of flavours. There's the Persona Arena Games, a pair of 2D brawlers that see the casts of Personas 3 & 4 square-off to knock seven bells out of each other. Or there's Persona Strikers, which transplants Persona 5's cast into the Musou genre to surprisingly effective results. Much like the aforementioned Hyrule Warriors games, Strikers injects new life into the 1-vs.-1000 template through its excellent story, summon-based combat and another killer soundtrack
For fans of old school RPG adventuring, there's the Persona Q games - A pair of 3DS exclusive dungeon crawlers featuring hardcore dungeon crawling, surprisingly tear-jerking stories, and, of course, a killer soundtrack.
And finally, there's Persona Dancing trilogy. As the name suggests, these games take the party members of Personas 3 to 5 and have them dance along to their respective game's tunes. They're all refreshing, lightweight entertainment, but Persona 4 takes the prize for its utterly bats**t story about saving the world through the power of dance. (And yes, these games have the most killingest soundtracks of the lot).
