10 Video Game “Heroes” You Really Shouldn’t Be Rooting For
1. Nathan Drake (Uncharted)
Nathan
Drake is a monster, who seemingly enjoys maiming and murdering people. How many
ancient civilisations has this man destroyed, single-handedly? How many friends
has he gotten killed leading them into uncertain situations? Nathan Drake isn’t
Indiana Jones; his findings aren’t donated to museums; they’re auctioned to the
highest bidder. So, why am I rooting for him, again?
In Uncharted 2, Nathan is given a tranquilizer gun – but, because he’s a psychopath – the gun is soon discarded in favour of conventional weaponry. His silent takedowns involve breaking necks and slashing throats, and he’s responsible for some pretty gruesome murders. Worse, Nathan’s motivated entirely by personal greed – meaning whenever the man’s burning down ancient temples or destroying priceless artefacts – it’s not for the greater good, it’s for profit.
