10 Video Game NPCs Nobody Wanted To Kill (But You HAD To)
1. Sif The Great Grey Wolf (Dark Souls)
You know that feeling of guilt when a dog or wolf whines in pain after you attack them in a game? Well, times that feeling by 100, and you've got a fraction of how devastating this fight is.
The beloved Great Wolf Sif stands guard at the grave of their beloved master, Artorias the Abysswalker. They're a loyal friend who won't allow anyone to desecrate their master's grave, which sucks because that's what you have to do.
While some Dark Souls bosses are optional, this one is not. You need the Covenant of Artorias to continue the game. As such, killing Sif is essential to finishing Dark Souls.
FromSoft knew they would be breaking hearts with this one, even having Sif limp and whine before you finish them off. Oh, and as if that wasn't bad enough, the game's DLC places you alongside a young version of Sif just to show off how awesome they were - before you murdered them for protecting their master, you monster.
Thankfully, there is a secret way to save the pooch. You just turn the game off before the fight and never play it again. Great, right?
