10 Video Game NPCs Who Sneakily Knew EVERYTHING
8. Email Friend - Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, being a game about bloodsucking sun-haters, is obviously no stranger to the supernatural and occult. One of the vampire clans in the game, the Malkavians, is literally made up of mad prophets who can read the future, and one of them is even secretly helping you fulfill your own destiny throughout the main story.
One of the most enigmatic characters in the game is the mysterious e-pen pal your character receives letters from during each important plot point. The sender of these letters always calls themselves "a friend" and writes cryptic messages consisting of chess metaphors.
The emails can be easily dismissed as spam or some stalker harassing you, but if you read them in the context of the missions you're completing for the Prince, you can quickly realize they are warnings, telling you to watch out for certain dangers, like the Prince's eventual betrayal and the bomb hidden inside the antediluvian sarcophagus you obtain for him.
The identity of your chess friend is never revealed, but the game's fans have speculated that the stranger is probably the Malkavian clan leader Grout, who faked his own death to stay out of trouble and guide you through the messy vampiric existence.
