10 Video Game Protagonists Who Became Heroes By Accident

3. Leon Kennedy - Resident Evil 2

We've talked about Ethan Winters being a random citizen pulled into the insane world of Resident Evil on accident, but the truth of the matter is, even some of the series more iconic heroes, who perform superhuman feats on a regular basis, started off as simple survivors with no prior training in fighting zombies and mutants.

The best example of this is Leon Kennedy.

These days, when someone brings up Leon, most people think of the cool secret agent on a mission to save the President's daughter or the jaded veteran who'd rather drink himself into a stupor than go on a round zombie-fighting mission.

However, in his debut in Resident Evil 2, Leon is none of those things—he's just a low-ranking police officer who finds himself in Raccoon City in the middle of its infamous zombie outbreak.

This version of Leon is nothing more than another survivor of the horrors of the zombie virus, and the only reason why he ends up saving the city and stopping Umbrella's plans is because he randomly comes across their operatives throughout the city.

So yes, special agent Kennedy happened only because the original Leon was one lucky cop.
