10 Video Game Trailers That Spoiled WAY Too Much
8. Jill Is The Bird Lady - Resident Evil 5
During the early marketing push for Resident Evil 5, Capcom really wanted fans to believe that the franchise's original heroine, Jill Valentine, had died between games.
One trailer featured a fleeting glimpse of Jill's tombstone, and a magazine ad even showed Chris kneeling at her grave, hilariously in full battle regalia for some reason.
This sparked much debate among the series' fandom, though many questioned quite why Capcom would dare kill one of Resident Evil's most cherished characters off-screen rather than, y'know, finally bring her back after years on the bench.
However, Resident Evil 5's first trailer showed a close-up glimpse of a woman awakening from some kind of stasis, and the overwhelming fan consensus was that it was most likely Jill.
But the most spoilerific moment came in the final major trailer, which showed Albert Wesker unmasking the "Bird Lady" character.
He mentions that he thought Chris would be happy to see the character in question, and while the scene cuts away before the unveiling happens, at this point it's near-impossible to picture it being anyone but Jill.
And of course that's precisely who it turned out to be, to the surprise of not a single living soul.
