10 Video Game Villains That Became Heroes In The Sequel

4. Goro Majima - Yakuza 0

Borderlands Handsome Jack
Sega

Goro Majima, Yakuza fans’ favorite one-eyed lunatic, is a menace that loves to stalk and fight the series protagonist, Kiryu Kazuma. Although he mostly does so with a flair of hilarity that makes him seem more comical than threatening, he is relentless in his pursuit, and his goal is to kill Kiryu (well, at least in the beginning).

The thing is, due to his maniacal and unpredictable nature, Goro eventually develops an odd kinship with the Dragon of Dojima, which is probably why Yakuza’s creators decided to turn him into one of the protagonists of Yakuza 0 and give him his very own backstory that humanizes him and shows that inside this chaotic and violent mobster lies the heart of a sentimental and compassionate softie.

The prequel dives into Goro’s past before his transformation into the Mad Dog of Shimano. From helping a blind girl in need to fighting the injustice within the Tojo clan, the title gives Goro plenty of opportunities to prove he can be Tokyo’s hero as much as its spontaneous and Kiryu-obsessed wrecking ball.

Not to mention showcasing his ability to absolutely kill it on the mic during Karaoke night.
