2. Lord Gwyn (Dark Souls)
The world of Dark Souls is a sad and eerily silent place, mostly populated by mindless undead. And at the center of this dying world is Gwyn, once the Lord of Sunlight.
Gwyn is primarily responsible for just about everything in the world of Dark Souls. Rallying his knights and the combined power of the other three Lords, Gwyn led the battle to wrest domination of the world away from the Everlasting Dragons, ushering in the Age of Fire.
Eventually, however, the flames of the Age of Fire grew dim. As the last remaining Lord, Gwyn sacrificed himself to keep the Kiln of the First Flame burning, thus prolonging the Age of Fire. But in doing so, he only succeeded in prolonging its slow, agonizing decay.
After roughly one thousand years, the Chosen Undead must challenge Gwyn to gain access to the Kiln. Now the Lord of Cinder, Gwyn was just a flicker of what he once was, mindless and unfeeling, apart from his instinct to protect the First Flame and prolong the Age of Fire for as long as possible. His only weakness: extremely precise parrying. But he'll kill you about ten thousand times before you get the timing right.
