9. Joseph Seed - Far Cry New Dawn

Joseph Seed is the primary antagonist of Far Cry 5, the charismatic, psychopathic leader of the terrorist cult Project at Eden's Gate.

For the entirety of the game, he's your typically exuberant, murderous, and amusingly cartoonish Far Cry villain, and in the game's canon ending, he decides to spare the player character's life, instead adding them to his deranged "family."

The New Dawn follow-up takes place 17 years later, with new protagonist The Captain eventually crossing paths with an older, more remorseful Joseph, who wishes to atone for his prior ways.

He focuses his efforts on a peaceful life while envisioning the Captain as New Eden's new shepherd.

Following the death of his son Ethan at the end of the game, Joseph fully bares his soul to the Captain, acknowledging that he doesn't deserve to live for his past actions, even asking the Captain to kill him.

It's up to the player to decide Joseph's fate, but regardless of what you choose, it's clear that Joseph isn't the same despicable monster he was two decades prior.
