10 Video Game Villains We WANTED To Win
4. The Colossi - Shadow Of The Colossus
We're admittedly using the term "villain" rather scarcely here, but at the outset of Shadow of the Colossus it's nevertheless easy to appreciate that the game's sixteen gigantic ancient creatures do strike fearful and imposing figures.
As the game carries on and players fell Colossus after Colossus, a creeping doubt emerges, that maybe these creatures are just minding their own damn business, and by slaughtering our way through them in order to save our unconscious love Mono, we're the real a**hole.
This feeling is confirmed at the end of the game, when it's revealed that killing the Colossi simply united the scattered remnants of the tyrant Dormin, the real villain of the game, while the Colossi largely only acted out of self-defense when pestered by protagonist Wander.
Replaying the game, there's that nagging feeling at the back of your brain that just wishes the Colossi could win and live happily forever after, because though they're undeniable roadblocks that players must push through, they really deserved to just crush Wander into a fine paste.
