Gary is the primary antagonist of Bully, Rockstar's school simulator, who betrays Jimmy in order to pit every clique in Bullworth Academy against each other and take over the school.

To call Gary's betrayal surprising would be a gross overstatement, as someone as sleazy and selfish as him is bound to ditch his friends at one point or another. However, the interesting thing is that there were even more obvious signs that Gary has some pretty nasty plans for the school to begin with.

In one of his dialogues prior to the reveal of his scheme, Gary talks about having a dream of "ruling an empire," similar to how he talks about Bullworth Academy once he takes it over.

He also frequently berates his friends and shows that he's constantly paranoid about them turning on him, while simultaneously bragging about how they're just pawns in his game.

With an attitude like this, it was only a matter of time before Gary would betray you.
