1. Gortash - Baldur's Gate 3

The three Chosen of the Absolute, the main antagonists of Baldur's Gate 3, are, spoiler alert, the Champions of the gods of murder, necromancy, and tyranny. It sounds like the least likely group you'd want to be buddies with, and yet, if you play as the Dark Urge, it turns out one of them is actually a close friend of yours.
In Act 3 of the game, when your Dark Urge arrives in Baldur's Gate, Gortash, the Chosen of the tyrant god Bane, invites you to witness his inauguration. After the event, he then invites you for a proverbial cuppa and reveals that prior to your memory loss, the two of you were best buds, and it was actually you who snuck into the Hells to steal the crown of Karsus and set off the events of the entire game.
It turns out Gortash doesn't actually want to work with the other Chosen, and his wish is to help you eliminate them so that the two of you can rule the world together.
Yes, he's still a power-hungry despot who brainwashes people into his obedient slaves, but if you're already playing an evil character yourself, the prospect of having a deviously devilish pal sounds pretty great.
Too bad, no matter what you do, Gortash dies before the final act anyway. The path of a villain truly is a lonely one.
