10 Video Games In 2021 Everyone Regretted Buying

5. Call Of Duty: Vanguard

The latest entry into the Call of Duty franchise is hardly a bad game, but it's certainly one of the most forgettable entries into the iconic FPS series to date.

The campaign returns to the over-trod World War II setting once again, and while intermittently fun as a snappy rollercoaster ride of mayhem, lacks the variety to distinguish itself from prior campaigns.

The multiplayer suite fares better, with a strong sense of customisation and the winning addition of destructible scenery, even if it doesn't do nearly enough with the existing formula to truly justify the purchase.

What really killed the package for a lot of players was Vanguard's treatment of the series' beloved Zombies mode, which launched without a main quest and served up the most content-light Zombies offering in years and years.

All this considered, it's not terribly surprising that Vanguard had the franchise's worst UK launch in 14 years, but those who bought it clearly did so with the expectation that Call of Duty is like pizza - even when it's not great, it's still pretty good.

Even so, few can claim with a straight face that a fun multiplayer suite alone is worth the game's £60 RRP. Yikes.
