6. Berzerk

Berzerk was a successful arcade shooter released in the early 80s. A multi-directional shooter that required players as a humanoid green stick snot of a man to constantly fire a laser gun at multiple robots aiming to repay the favour in you direction. Berzerk has a dark accolade as it was the cause of two deaths of two men who didn't know each other, and lived hundreds of miles apart. Peter Burkowski and Jeff Dailey both endured hard sessions of coin draining time playing Berzerk in their attempt to get their three initials to the top of the leaderboard. Both players dropped dead within minutes of posting their high scores to the game, with Jeff being only 19 and Peter, 18. A lot of speculation has led many to believe that these stories are nothing more than folklore aimed to crudely promote the game itself, however other sources claim Peter's story is true at least, and it tragically happened in Illinois at Friar Tucks Game Room. They are believed to be the first known documented events of a death attributed to playing video games, that's of course if they did actually happen.
